Harvey, IL- born actor and entertainer Joavon McKinnor has built his career on one guiding belief: “Live what you love.” That philosophy took root when he was just nine years old, after a standing ovation from a theatre performance showed him the power of storytelling and connection. From that moment, Joavon set his sights on the world of entertainment.
Joavon began sharpening his craft at Thornton Fractional South High School in Lansing, Illinois, where he immersed himself in theatre and performance. Determined to elevate his talent, he went on to earn his Bachelor’s degree in Theatre Arts/Film from Columbia College Chicago in 2018, a period that further grounded his dedication to becoming a well-rounded and dynamic performer.
His transition into film took shape in 2020 when he starred in VOICES, a project produced by LMTMS & MOMEDIA LLC. The film went on to be nominated at two film festivals, marking the official beginning of McKinnor’s on-screen career and establishing him as a new actor to watch.
In 2024, Joavon’s momentum accelerated when Chicago’s very own Barry Brewer Jr. (Founder of OBE Studio, Actor, and Comedian) casted him as a co-star in Left on Red, which premiered on Tubi.
The role showcased Joavon’s natural humor, emotional depth, and impressive versatility—further solidifying his presence as an emerging talent in film and entertainment.
A true jack of all trades, Joavon’s creative reach extends far beyond acting. He has built a growing résumé as an event host, dancer, and digital content creator, consistently bringing energy, charisma, and authenticity to every project he touches.
With a relentless work ethic and a passion that traces back to his childhood, Joavon McKinnor continues to rise—one role, one opportunity, and one dream at a time. He is a star in the making with his eyes set firmly on the future, pursuing his ultimate goal: to one day win an Oscar.
